PHAETON's Monster is one of the Faction Quests in The Outer Worlds, available with the Murder on Eridanos DLC. Faction Quests are optional quests that players can choose to complete in order to obtain special rewards, XP, and reputation with a given Faction.

The Pilothouse's astrogator needs a highly technical and critical fix, or it may eventually steer the Eridanos Atmospheric Complex into a disaster.

PHAETON's Monster Walkthrough

 Can be started by talking to the computer/pilot in the Phaeton Pilothouse.

The Navcomputer will inform the player that they are malfunctioning and they need assistance putting the entirety of Eridanos at risk! Upon beginning it, the player would be directed towards the elevator under the entrance to start the dungeon.

This is a pretty straightforward dungeon crawl with objectives highlighted and which can be completed either by straight guns blazing approach or by stealth if you have the build. I would personally recommend the stealth option because it allows you to skip some battles and risk in fighting the numerous Slugs and Crazed Rizzo personel between you and the objectives. 

After obtaining the first objective which is the Gyroscopic Alignment Key. You will then be directed towards a maze of passageways towards the Computer Key slot to apply the fix. Eventually you will be directed towards a crossroad with a see through glass and the Captain Mabel Thompson asking for your assistance. From here on out you can either follow her directions to use the elevated pathway or just fight/sneak through the ground floor. Both ways lead to the same objective. From there follow the markers, punch in the key and complete the quest.

One last note, in the room before the room with the Giant Gyroscope. There would be ladders on both sides of it, take the left ladder and in the end of the hallway would be the unique weapon Brontide.
