Welles Ending

The Hope's scientists and engineers woke up in a colony descending headlong into total collapse. With no way to return to Earth, they had no choice but to band together and devote themselves to the cause of saving Halcyon.

The people of Halcyon were nothing if not hardy. In the absence of the Board's authority, many of the colony's settlements banded together with a single purpose in mind: survival. Life was especially hard in the years to come. Some towns dissolved by attribution and starvation -- but most of them found a way to carry on.

In the years to come, Halcyon was forced to reckon with its newfound freedom. The Board was gone, and for better or worse, the colony was responsible for its own destiny.

Board Ending

The riots in Tartarus ended in a total victory for the Board. Without any significant threats to challenge their power, the Board asserted their control over the colony. The Lifetime Employment Program began immediately--and the people of Halcyon did exactly what they were expected to do: they obeyed.

Sophia Akande converted the Labyrinth from a prison to a processing center. She jettisoned the original colonists out of the Hope and transformed the ship into a massive storage facility. One by one, the workers of Halcyon surrendered themselves to the Program. They arrived with their families and their friends, their colleagues and their neighbors. And then, one by one, they marched into their stasis chambers.

As the workers of Halcyon slept in their hibernation chambers, their settlements became ghost-towns, left behind by the Board to be reclaimed by nature. Only Byzantium remained--a shining beacon of civilization in an otherwise abandoned colony.

The people of Byzantium spent the rest of their days gorging themselves on their stockpile of resources. As for the workers of Halcyon--they never felt the effects of the collapse. They never felt anything at all.

Tartarus

The events on Tartarus brought about the end of the Board's authority -- but the Board's mistakes would haunt the colony for decades to come. The damage they left behind would require the work of a generation to repair.

Dr. Phineas Welles began reviving a handful of the Hope's colonists - engineers, scientists, technicians, and intellectuals. They were among the brightest minds the Earth had ever sent out into the stars.

MSI

Between MSI's worker-centric policies and the Iconoclasts' manpower, Sanjar and Zora were able to rally many of the Terra 2 townships to their cause. MSI's workforce swelled and the Iconoclasts enjoyed a significant surge in their ranks. The Board was too distracted by in-fighting and internal politics to stop MSI from becoming a powerful corporation and a refuge for townships that might have fallen through the cracks.

Establish Peace + The Phineas's ending

As the Board began to enact the Lifetime Employment Program, Sanjar and Zora brought another option to the townships of Terra 2. Many workers joined MSI, bolstering Sanjar's ranks and giving Zora more forces to work with. Though none of Sanjar's policies spread to Byzantium, many smaller townships that might otherwise have been shuttered thrived under his and Zora's combined leadership.

Establish Peace + The Board's ending

The Board’s focus on Byzantium closed the door on much of Sonjar’s civil liberties movement. As the last few townships withered away, MSI had little room to grow. Ever the savvy businessman, however, Sanjar pivoted and established Stellar Bay as the colony’s supplier of luxury seafood. Catering to the elite, MSI was allowed to continue operations as a member of the Halcyan Board and became more successful than Sanjar could ever have dreamed.

Choose MSI + The Board's ending

Sanja’s civil liberties and worker-centric policies were slow to catch on with the other corporations. But as Halcyan began its long, arduous journey toward recovery, many of Terra 2’s smaller townships started adopting MSI’s alternative cooperation structure and eventually became entirely self-sufficient. In the coming years, many of these townships managed to eke by, where otherwise they might have starved.

Graham's focuses for the Iconoclasts never caught hold in the rest of the colony; it seemed to only work on Monarch, and didn't spread Choose Iconoclasts with a focus on Graham + The Phineas's ending
With the Board shuttering many of its smaller townships, Graham was never able to spread his ideals to Byzantium. On monarch, however, the Iconoclats movement swelled, forming the colony's hotbed of Philosophist thought and freedom, a consistent counter-point to the Board's capitalist regime. Or so they viewed themselves, at leat. The Byzantium elite find it endearing that those anarchistic hoopleheads are still allowed to breath Halcyon air. Choose Iconoclasts with a focus on Graham + The Board's ending
Left leaderless, the people of Stellar Bay and Amber Heights were slowly but inevitably picked apart by the wildlife of Monarch. Kill Graham, Sanjar and Zora
Lilya Hagen

Bolstered by her status as the Savior of Humanity, Lilya Hagen ushered Sublight Salvage in a new golden age. Her company grew bolder and more transparent over time, muddying the line between lawful and criminal for the entire colony. The Sublight Family would thrive for years to come.

Complete The Chimerist's Last Experiment, and eliminate Eva.

Consumed by paranoia, Lilya Hagen took Siblight Salvage in a controversial direction - openly accusing Board officials of an extraterrestrial conspiracy. One day, an "accident" at the Groundbreaker's docking bay silenced her forever. Time would tell if her replacement could keep the Sublight Family together.

Complete The Chimerist's Last Experiment, and spare Eva.

Sublight Salvage adapted to the changes in Halcyon, shifting their business model to suit the times. Their claims of legitimacy were scrutinized, but ultimately unquestioned. Lilya Hagen would continue to protect her family as ruthlessly as ever.
Didn't complete The Chimerist's Last Experiment.
Without Lilya Hagen, SubLight Salvage fell apart. The company fractured, devolving into a series of unregulated criminal gangs, fences, and smugglers. Their facade of legitimacy quickly faded. In time, the SubLight Family was forgotten. Killed Lilya.
Edgewater

The collapse of Edgewater left its workers bereft of any purpose in life. Most of them made their way to Adelaide McDevitt's camp, hoping to ingratiate themselves into her favor.

Adelaide accepted only a few to her community. The rest were turned away, and likely died of starvation. Nevertheless, Adelaide's camp grew into a well-established town.

Adelaide McDevitt refused to cooperate with the ongoing effort to save Halcyon from collapse. A sympathetic Deserter stole a copy of her research and delivered it to the Hope's scientists. It is unclear how useful Adelaide's research was; an optimistic estimate suggests her work may have bought Halcyon another few years of survival. Adelaide would never know. She died that winter.

Acquired if you decided to redirect the power to the Botanical Lab during Comes Now the Power  +chose Phineas's ending.

Adelaide McDevitt replaced Reed Tobson as the leader of Edgewater. She and her followers transformed Edgewater in their image. Anyone loyal to Reed was pressured into leaving town, and those who stayed behind adapted to her way of life. Adelaide transformed the old cannery into a new garden. The nearby Edgewater Cemetery provided a convenient source of fertilizer.

As for Reed Tobson, it was said that he lasted exactly two days outside the walls of Edgewater. Years later, a marauder was found in possession of his hat.

Acquired if you decided to redirect the power to the Edgewater during Comes Now the Power, and convinced Reed Tobson to step down as the town's leader + chose Phineas's ending.

Over the years, the ruins of Edgewater caused irreversible environmental damage to the landscape of Emerald Vale, owing largely to the presence of toxic compounds in the town's building materials.

As for Edgewater's former workers, their remains provided a source of nourishment for the region's fauna, leading to an explosion in the sprat population.

Kill everyone in Edgewater (either on your own, or as part of the Board's ending)

Edgewater’s Cannery met its production quota for the first time in three years. As a result, the Adjutant rewarded every worker in Edgewater with a place in the Lifetime Employment Program.

Reed Tobson was granted twenty-five years in suspended animation; however, a computing error adjusted his duration to two-hundred and fifty years. A trouble ticket to resolve this error remains open.

Choose Edgewater + Reed + The Board's ending

After returning to Edgewater, the Deserters negotiated workplace reforms with Reed Tobson, including a single day of rest, which came to be known as a “weekend.”

As the world around them changed, Tobson soon found himself pining for the old days. He was known to spend his weekends in the cantina, nursing one of the few remaining bottles of Zero Gee, and repeating to himself, “it’s not the best choice – It’s Spacer’s Choice.”

As for Adelaide McDevitt, she tended to her garden in solitude for another year before passing away.  Her body was discovered some months later, when Reed Tobson paid her a visit in an effort to make amends. Her remains were buried in a place of honor, underneath the floor od Edgewater Cannery. Reed believed this was what she always wanted.

Groundbreaker

Under the leadership of Junlei Tennyson, the Groundbreaker held firm against corporate influence. The ship's mechanical stability gave Junlei the time to educate a promising generation of engineers schooled in her family's traditions. The future of the Groundbreaker looks promising.

Skip the Hope to Terra 2, Repair ship.

While the Groundbreaker remained mechanically stable, the changing times forced Junlei Tennyson to make some difficult calls on behalf of her community. The work of maintaining independence was an uphill climb, and she found herself caving to bad-faith compromises with the Board. Time will tell if the Groundbreaker can endure.

Skip the Hope to Tartarus, Repair ship.

The loss of Junlei Tennyson hit the Groundbreaker hard, and even threatened to undercut the ship's independence. Taking up the example of their fallen Captain, citizens banded together and rallied anew for the Groundbreaker's autonomy. Junlei was remembered as a folk hero, the spark that ignited a flame, heralding a new age of proud defiance against anyone who would challenge the Groundbreaker's sovereignty.

kill Junlei, Phineas's ending

Without the commanding leadership of Junlei Tennyson, the Groundbreaker teetered on the verge of corporate control. The ship's independence eroded until it was nothing but another symbolic brand. Once Engineering and Life Support fell into Board hands, the people began to accept that their home was no longer their own.

Junlei Tennyson fought to protect the Groundbreaker's independence. While the Board's influence faded, mechanical difficulties forced her to rely on parts that only corporations could provide. The cost was high, and time would tell if Junlei could balance the work with her aspirations for a better future. Don't repair ship, Skip the Hope to Terra 2.

Byzantium

The rediscovery of the Hope and the abandonment of the Lifetime Employment Program forced Byzantium to come to terms with some uncomfortable realities about the state of Halcyon. While Byzantines were reluctant to surrender the luxuries they'd grown accustomed to, the Board's diminished authority gave them little choice in the matter. Nearly everyone had to learn to make do with less. Some even had to get jobs.

It was a dark time, indeed.

Skip the Hope to Terra 2

As smaller settlements were swallowed up and their workers drafted into the Lifetime Employment Program, Byzantium continued to thrive. While its citizens lived in decadence and extravagance, a small cadre of scientists worked to solve the nutrition crisis that threatened Halcyon.

No one else much noticed the townships that disappeared from the map or the luxuries that slowly lost their luster year by year.

Gorgon

Even the Gorgon asteroid, though a distant enigma to most of Halcyon, felt the aftershocks of your actions.

Complete Peril on Gorgon

Olivia and Minnie Ambrose worked together to cure the marauders Adrena-Time had created.

Though their partnership as scientist and administrator, they discovered the harmony that had eluded them as mother and daughter. And, through years of patience and effort, they discovered a means to wean Halcyon from the scourge of Adrena-Time.

Convinced Olivia and Minnie to cooperate

Their work eventually allowed Welles and his scientists to treat many of Halcyon's marauders. As their addiction waned, the colonists who had lived for so long under the thrall of Adrena-Time returned to their communities and loved ones and joined in the effort to save Halcyon.

Convinced Olivia and Minnie to cooperate + Phineas's ending

Their work afforded them an enviable status among Byzantium's elite. It was a bittersweet reward, especially as the townships they had saved were rounded up as part of the Lifetime Employment Program.

Convinced Olivia and Minnie to cooperate + Board's ending

The Gorgon Project created divisions among Welles' newly-awakened scientists - many wanted to let the facility and its failures rot, but others saw an opportunity to improve the work of the original scientists and, perhaps, the lives of Halcyon's masses.

Minnie Ambrose made a compelling case for the benefits of an improved Adrena-Time formula - one that could re-invigorate Halcyon's exhausted, malnourished workforce as they fought for survival in a new and uncertain world. She led the project, committed to reasonable schedules and honest reporting.

Save the Gorgon Project with Minnie + Phineas's ending

With no one to champion the project, however, the promise of Adrena-Time faded, and the Gorgon facilities fell into disuse once more.

Lucien Bancroft had high hopes for Project Gorgon. However, the Board's fall stripped him of the power and authority he'd wielded for so long. Like many of his peers, he was forced to take up a job based on his meager qualifications.

He was relegated to dirt farming in the marauder-infested outskirts of Terra 2.

Save the Gorgon Project with Lucien + Phineas's ending

The destroyed Adrena-Time synthesizer became a symbol of the Board's cruelty and a rallying point for Welles and his scientists as they sought to build a more humane, ethical Halcyon. They cleared the dead from Gorgon's laboratories and repurposed them to aid in the crucial work of solving the colony's nutrition crisis.

Gorgon, which had once sown death and destruction across Halcyon, became a source of hope and renewal.

The Gorgon project's final, explosive end was bittersweet for Olivia Ambrose. She wandered the colony's fringes alone, searching for others like her, who despised the Board and meant to destroy them. In time, she found Phineas Welles and his cadre of scientists, and she joined them in their efforts to save Halcyon. For a while, she even knew an uneasy peace.

Destroy the Gorgon project with Olivia + Phineas's ending

With nothing to show for her years of effort, Minnie Ambrose finally gave up on Project Gorgon. Though Gorgon was not the end of her aspirations, failure cast a long shadow that haunted her for years to come. She never forgot the intrepid freelancer who betrayed her, and offered many a bitter toast in her name.

But for all that Olivia found purpose in Welles' project, she was always haunted by the knowledge that Minnie, the bright daughter she'd so greviously wronged, refused to work beside her. She never did forgive herself for the horror her work had wrought on Halcyon, but she remembered fondly the daring captain who'd let her daughter live.

But for all that Olivia found purpose in Welles' project, she was always haunted by the memory of her daughter, Minnie, who hadn't lived to see the better world they were building. She never did forgive herself for the horror her work had wrought on Halcyon, but she remembered fondly the daring captain who'd put an end to it at last.

Destroy the Gorgon project with Olivia + Kill Minnie + Phineas's ending

As the Lifetime Employment Program rolled out, Akande explored options to improve compliance and productivity among the remaining worker communities. She sent a team to investigate Gorgon, but they were unable to recover any viable research or technology.

With the Adrena-Time synthesizer a smoldering crater and the Gorgon project finally dead, Olivia Ambrose left the asteroid for a time. But as the Board's focus shifted to the Lifetime Employment Program and the dogged pursuit of dissidents, she struggled to remain out of their reach, and so she returned to Gorgon, the place she meant to die.

They caught her at last in the synthesizer's twisted ruins, and in her final moments, she thought fondly of the daring captain who'd risked so much to save Halcyon, and the daughter she'd abandoned to see it done.

Destroy the Gorgon project with Olivia + Board's ending

Gorgon's restored facilities presented a tantalizing boon to the Lifetime Employment Program: the promise of a more productive, more compliant workforce. It was too good for Akande to pass up, especially when Tartarus and the many underperforming townships across Terra 2 offered fodder for additional research.

Save the Gorgon project + Board's ending

Minnie Ambrose found herself leading the project under Akande's watchful eye. Her organizational acumen kept the project afloat, but just barely. With the specter of failure ever-present, she came to appreciate the struggles the late Dr. Ambrose had faced.

Save the Gorgon project with Minnie + Board's ending

Unfortunately, the lack of capable leadership left the project in even worse shap than it had been under Dr. Ambrose. As Halcyon's population dwindled, Gorgon churned out one failed formula after another, and marauders overran the empty settlements of Terra 2.

Save the Gorgon project, kill Minnie + Board's ending

With Project Gorgon under his command, Lucien Bancroft had everything he needed - a laboratory, Ambrose Manor, and an endless supply of human test subjects. Above all, he had no ethical qualms about the nature of his work. Lucien did well for himself in Akande's new vision of Halcyon.

Save the Gorgon project with Lucien + Board's ending

In spite of everything, the Gorgon asteroid remained a sobering reminder of the potential for progress and disaster in humanity's most ambitious efforts.

Eridanos

The Rizzo's company in Halcyon dissolved after the collapse of the Board. Needless to say, the launch of Spectrum Brown was indefinitely delayed. A stockpile of Spectrum Brown remains buried deep beneath the ruins of the old distillery, abandoned to time and attrition.

With the dissolution of the Board, Ruth Bellamy found herself without the two constants in her life: Byzantine culture, and her sister Belinda. In the face of this new reality, she struggled to find a direction for her life. The colony had moved on from Halcyon Helen, and would require new heroes in the years to come. And so, Ruth Bellamy decided it was time to exit stage left. She quietly disappeared from public view.

The dissolution of the Board did not mean the dissolution of the ambitions of Sedrick Kincannon, the charismatic leader of Sublight Underground. Sedrick offered SLUG's transportation services to the newly thawed colonists and set to work ferrying resources and food wherever they were most needed. For better or worse, SLUG headgear became fashionable in the following years.

As the Board began to disintegrate, Spencer Woolrich found himself at a crossroads: cling to what little stardom remained to him, or help usher Halcyon into its new future. To the surprise of many - perhaps himself most of all - Spencer chose the latter option.

Having learned a variety of different skills in the many different roles played throughout his lengthy career, Spencer founded a radio serial dedicated to stauing alive despite the odds. His subjects included how to survive violent encounters with only grazing wounds, dispense pithy one-liners for tense scenarios, and, of course, how to look good doing both.

After a brief attempt at dating Helen as one person rather than two - which both Bertie and Helen found "too strange" - Bertie struck out on his own to try his hand at raising wooly cows. Many of his former Rangers teammates soon followed, accompanied by the wooly cow the team had originally plied with alcohol. The dairy farm thrived under Bertie's leadership and care.

The Dairy Rangers believed that the wooly cows softened Bertie's temper considerably, although the only one brave enough to say this to his face was promptly headbutted.

Due to the Board's dissolution, many of the Prophet's old customers no longer found quite the same value in productivity seminars that they once had. With her business drying up, the Prophet chose to take her followers down a new path.

Months later, salvagers on Eridanos found clues leading them to a seemingly abandoned bunker out in the wilderness. Inside, they discovered horribly mangled corpses sacrificed to a blood-scrawled portrait of a sprat-headed deity. The Prophet was not among the bodies.

The truth about Rizzo's Spectrum Brown was buried in the abandoned ruins of their old distillery. The company designed a new drink using the rancid harvests from the old Purpleberry Orchards and a dangerous amouunt of brown food coloring. This "second launch" of Spectrum Brown was sold in Byzantium at an exorbitant price. It was incredibly popular.

The death of her sister left Ruth Bellamy disillusioned. She eventually lost interest in Byzantine culture, and spent more time alone with her memories of Belinda. She only emerged out of isolation to speak out against the Lifetime Employment Program. Her opinions earned the contempt of the elite. She was last seen departing from Byzantium in a private craft. No one has heard from her since.

The Lifetime Employment Program led to a boom in the aetherwave industry, as more and more Byzantines demanded entertainment. With the absence of Ruth Bellamy, the question on everyone's mind was: who could be the next Halcyon Helen?

Burbage-3001's performance during the investigation on Eridanos made it the ideal contender for Helen's replacement. Some years later, after Odeon Pictures released the brand new Burbage-3002 model, it was found mysteriously destroyed by a plasma weapon.

Sedrick Kincannon did not take kindly to losing the vast majority of his subordinates to hibernation. Despite the Board seriously entertaining the idea of offering SubLight a seat, Sedrick was nowhere to be found. Any theories that he left Halcyon entirely to begin a new life on some undiscovered asteroid with his former secretary, Aileene, are, of course, just theories. With the Board's newly renewed grip on its seat of power, the public's increased interest in the aetherwave industry, and the death of his primary acting rival, Spencer Woolrich expected to return to the limelight as he so rightfully deserved. Much to his chagrin, however, his roles remained few, and quickly grew fewer. As his fall from stardom solidified, Woolrich found himself reassigned to menial labor and placed in suspended animation to support the Lifetime Employment Program.

It seemed that as much as he had resented her, Halcyon Helen had been all that separated Spencer from complete irrelevancy.

Tossball in Halcyon changed dramatically after the Lifetime Employment Program. With roughly half of the league's players in hibernation, existing teams were forced to merge. The upheaval caused a great deal of infighting between longtime rivals who found themselves on the same side of the tossball hump. This in turn led to a pronounced increase of knives during play, and a period in tossball's history known as the "Blood Loss Across the Toss."

Bertie Holcomb groused in private about the "general-fictation" of tossball spectators. Once, enraged by the sight of a Byzantine seated in the front row with a fancy drink, Bertie leapt over the dividing wall to the stands, seized the offending beverage, and stabbed the man in the hand with its tiny umbrella garnish. New laws against this infraction were created after the game; Bertie Holcomb would live forever in the annals of tossball history as the first player to have received a penalty for "audience participation".

With the situation in Eridanos taken care of, and with Byzantium's sphere of influence rapidly expanding, attention on the Propher of Profitability's productivity seminars multiplied a hundredfold. High-rungers all over Halcyon flocked to Eridanos and its newly opened Productivity Expansion Reserve.

The Prophet herself remained at the forefront of her discipline, until a violent encounter with a "rival spy", actually no more than a curious fan, saw her fade into the background for the remainder of her days.

The Rizzo's company in Halcyon dissolved after the collapse of the Board. The Eridanos Atmospheric Complex developed a notorious reputation as a derelict settlement, populated by grinning killers. These stories kept the infection safely contained, until a group of salvagers braved the Complex and stole twenty crates of Spectrum Brown. Inside these crates, long-dormant parasites began to stir.

In the absence of Board regulation, Spectrum Brown made its way across the colony by passing hands between the desperate, the apathetic, and the lonely.

Administrator Ludovico never lived to see the launch of Spectrum Brown. It happened in a private event in Byzantium to an elite gathering of dilettantes who wanted to sample 'the drink that killed Halcyon Helen.' Spectrum Brown was briefly popular in the months following the Lifetime Employment Program, but fell out of favor once Byzantines realized it couldn't dull the inevitable onset of ennui.

The sheer volume of substances consumed by the average Byzantine had the effect of countering the parasite's influence. Hosts to the parasite rarely turned violent, and the few who did were discreetly rounded up and deposited outside the walls.

Sedrick Kincannon quietly disappeared in the aftermath of the Eridanos incident. As unlikely as it would be for Sedrick to have slipped offworld before the infection claimed Eridanos, no one has ever seen him among the waves of madly grinning infected plaguing the colony. Curiously, no one has ever seen Sedrick's former secretary, Aileene, among the infected either.

After Spectrum Brown's widespread distribution, Spencer Woolrich experience a sudden upswing in his popularity. Viewers found his on-screen conduct to be more boisterous, energetic and personable than ever before. The wide grin constantly beaming from his narrow face certainly helped fit his "friendly" image.

When asked about his newfound on-screen charisma, Spencer had this to say: "Happy workers lead to happy customers. Happy customers are repeat customers."

Bertie Holcomb adapted to his new role as a host for parasitic slugs surprisingly well, perhaps because he wasn't using his brain for all that much in the first place. Of all the infected in the colony, Bertie's wild, beaming smile would always be the most genuine.

The Propher of Profitability was not spared from the infection quickly overtaking Eridanos.

Due to her newfound, chronic delight, the Prophet was no longer able to effectively advise her clients on productivity. Her disciples, similarly bliss-enrapt, lost interest in the hot coal walks and hourly purges. Despite all this, the Prophet's spirits were hardly dampened - after all, she no longer had the capacity to worry about any of her business rivals.

Felix

Life in Halcyon was sobering for Felix Millstone. The grand revolution he'd dreamed of never came. There was no great awakening for the colony, no celebrations in the streets. There was only the hard, desperate work of trying to repair a broken colony.

Felix never had a head for numbers, but if there was labor to be done, he was there to help. Eventually, Felix realized that the work of a revolution was done with two hands.

As the Board reasserted control over Halcyon, Felix came to realize that his life as an upstart rebel had come to an end. The Board's victory crushed any hope for a grand revolution across Halcyon, and so Felix once again found himself without a purpose in life.

And so, disillusioned with his former boss and with nowhere left to go, Felix left his crew without saying goodbye. He was never heard from again.

And so, with nowhere else left to turn, Felix continued to work for his boss - the only person with whom he’d ever belonged. He turned bitter and jaded over the years, but he always did as he was told.

Clyde Harlow and his gang of pirates never had the chance to go down in a blaze of defiance. The deteriorating state of the colony took its toll, and they fell into mutiny when their supplies ran low. Felix was not one of the crew killed in that mutiny. He disappeared, only to reappear a few months later in Terra 2, looking to help the effort to save Halcyon. He was given a job hauling boxes for a local laboratory. Leave him to Harlow + Phineas's ending
He disappeared, only to reappear a year later in Board custody. Out of respect for his previous services, Sophia Akande spared his life, and added him to the Lifetime Employment Program instead. He remains in suspended animation to this day.  Leave him to Harlow + The Board's ending
Vicar Max

As much as he enjoyed his adventures aboard the Unreliable, the Vicar known as Max eventually decided that it was to move on, to live out the life he had sought so long to create.

He knew there were many in the colony who carried burdens much worse than the ones he had struggled with, and he devoted himself to easing their suffering wherever he could. He only ever took up arms again to defend the defenseless.

Unshackled from a lifetime of striving and fighting the universe and himself, Vicar Maximillian DeSoto was finally at peace.

After all he'd seen and heard adventuring with you, the Vicar Maximillian DeSoto renounced his faith and joined the effort to rebuild the colony. Ironically, he finally found the joy that had eluded him over the course of his life, and realized that perhaps he was always meant to be just a simple laborer after all.

He quickly dismissed the idea.

As a reward for his part in her courageous rescue, the Adjutant invited the Vicar known as Max to become one of the leaders of the Order of Scientific Inquiry.

Max eventually rose to the top, becoming the Presiding Bishop of the OSI. He denounced his spiritual meanderings as a misguided attempt to come to terms with his long-dead parents. His only regret was that they had not lived long enough to see that he was right all along.

But Max had no interest in serving any organization--let alone the OSI, which he knew would never tolerate his "heretical" theories. Instead, he attempted to minister to the people of Byzantium. They rejected his idea, being far too satisfied with their own material comforts. Disillusioned, Max gave up and left the city. He was never heard from again.

Parvati

Though Parvati grew comfortable aboard the Unreliable, she never quite came out of her shell. She seemed to prefer the company of ADA to the crew, and she could often be found neck-deep in cables and greases, telling ADA funny stories from her childhood.

While the colony fell into chaos, she found an island of relative peace with ADA, and they formed an unusual bond. She decided to remain on the Unreliable permanently, as its chief - and sole - engineer.

Though Parvati grew comfortable aboard the Unreliable, she never quite came out of her shell. She seemed to prefer the company of ADA to the crew, and she could often be found neck-deep in cables and greases, telling ADA funny stories from her childhood.

As the Board began to roll out their Lifetime Employment Program, Parvati was increasingly plagued by dreams of freezing to death, and rarely left their shared quarters. Stymied by dwindling resources, Junlei struggled to keep the Groundbreaker afloat. Their relationship couldn't survive the strain. Parvati moved into crew quarters and found work servicing water pumps in hydroponics.

Once the matter with the Hope colonists was resolved, Junlei bashfully asked Parvati if she'd like to join her permanently on the Groundbreaker, and Parvati enthusiastically - if somewhat awkwardly - agreed.

The stories of her adventures spread across the colony, and Parvati soon found herself the center of attention. Having served as the engineer of a renowned spacecraft, tramp freighters and wildcat miners sought her out by name, and in no time, she was a fixture in the Groundbreaker's mechanical ecosystem. She and Junlei were never far apart.

SAM

Before his untimely death, Captain Alex Hawthorne had plans to restore and modify for combat purposes, a sanitation and maintenance automechanical that he'd found in a state of despair in Emerald Vale's scrapyard. That unit remains broken down and forgotten in the Unreliable's supply closet to this day.

Minister Clarke

Minister Clarke was released from house arrest, and his contact with you gave him a sense of renewed purpose and vigor.

Once it became clear that no help would be coming from Earth, he threw his considerable efforts and talents into helping Halcyon manage the crisis before it.

Sophia Akande

It was widely suspected that Sophia Akande was the true power behind Chairman Rockwell. However, after the riots on Tartarus, she was never again seen in the colony. Various theories circulated as to her fate. Some believed she boarded an interstellar ship capable of journeying to a distant colony. Others believe she died trying to escape Tartarus. Some few suggest she fled to Monarch, where she continued to live among a small band of loyalists.

There is another theory, which suggests that Sophia's encounter with you changed her, and she deliberately retreated from public view. However, she continued supporting the colony in secret. When Dr. Welles began reviving the Hope's colonists, he found himself with a sudden windfall of additional supplies and resources, courtesy of an anonymous donor. If Welles knew who his supplier was, he never told a soul.

Dr. Phineas Welles

As for Dr. Phineas Welles -- he spent his remaining years in his orbital lab.

He eventually came to terms with his own past, and was able to forgive the mistakes of his younger self by devoting his remaining years to serving the colony.

Dr. Welles was able to revive many more scientists and engineers than he first expected, thanks to the additional batch of chemicals you stole from the Ministry. Welles never forgot about the human lives that were lost in acquiring these chemicals.

In the end, Dr. Welles was able to save every scientist and engineer aboard the Hope. Over the next decade, nearly all of the Hope's remaining colonists
were successfully revived. Halcyon saw a period of rapid technological and scientific advancement. Breakthroughs in dietary supplements saved the colony from starvation. Geo-engineering projects and social reforms began to change the structure and character of the colony.

Dr. Welles laid the groundwork for the project to save the colony, but he would never live to see the fruits of his labor. He passed away a few years later. His work was carried on by the scientists and engineers he revived.

Phineas's ending + Rescue all scientists

As for Dr. Phineas Welles -- he spent his remaining years in his orbital lab.

Though he was always haunted by the failures of his past, he was determined to make things right by building towards the future.

The revival project was hard and painful work. But in the end, despite limited resources, over half the Hope's colonists were successfully revived. Even after Welles passed away, the Hope's scientists and engineers worked night and day to pull Halcyon from the brink of collapse. Their efforts continue to this day, which may be reason enough for optimism.

Halcyon

Today, Halcyon has stabilized. The people of the colony work hard to adapt to their new circumstances. Nearby colonies send aid and supplies. Life will never be easy in Halcyon, but for the first time in its history, there exists a sense of real, genuine hope about the future.

Phineas's ending + Rescue all scientists

Life will never be the same in Halcyon. It is widely agreed that the colony has a chance as stabilizing within a generation, owing to the hard work and determination of the surviving colonists. Recovery is a distant goal, and the path is long and uncertain -- but the people of Halcyon carry on, determined as ever.

Phineas's ending + Rescue half of all scientists

With Halcyon's workers suspended in a state of hibernation, starvation and chaos are problems of the past. The Lifetime Employment Program succeeded in its goals, but that success came at a price.

The Halcyon of today is nothing at all like the colony of yesteryear. Power remains concentrated in Byzantium, but all the colony's resources serve the lifestyle of the elite, thereby transforming Halcyon into one of the smallest--and most exclusive--colonies in the system.

Board's ending
Main Character

You brought an end to the riot on Tartarus, and partnered with Chairman Rockwell to run the colony together.

As Halcyon looked toward the future, you remained a constant presence in the colony's administration. You were never weighed down by bureaucracy, and you never had to dirty your hands with politics. You had "people" who did that for you.

By your influence, Halcyon survived the turbulent years that were to follow.

No one knows what's happened to Earth. And no one knows what the future has in store for Halcyon. All we know for certain is this: the name of the Unreliable, and that of its intrepid captain, will remain the subject of countless stories for years to come.

Phineas's ending + become a leader + Rockwell helps the player rule

You brought an end to the chaos on Tartarus, and proved yourself the most capable leader left in the colony. With Sophia Akande as your Adjutant, you returned in triumph to Byzantium. All of Halcyon was yours.

In time, you demonstrated a talent for leadership that far surpassed your predecessor, Chairman Rockwell. With your steady hand, you guided Halcyon through the turbulent years to follow, and helped ensure the colony's survival.

The Board's ending + become a leader + Sophia helps the player rule

After fighting in Tartarus came to an end, you returned to Byzantium in triumph. As a reward for you service in saving the colony, you lived until the end of your days in luxury the likes of which Byzantium had never seen. Your estate was the envy of the city, and your revelries were things of legend.

With all the wealth of the colony concentrated in Byzantium, you wanted for nothing until the end of your days.

The Board's ending + player lives in Byzantium

After the riots on Tartarus came to an end, you threw in your support with Sophia Akande. While Akande administered the board herself, you oversaw the Lifetime Employment Program, stamping out corruption and negligent. Under your leadership, the Program ran smoothly. Halcyon’s workers were treated with a modicum of dignity.

Your involvement kept the Board honest, and allowed the Board's scientist to work without the meddling of bureaucracy.

The Board's ending + Sophia rules + player helps to rule

You brought an end to the chaos on Tartarus, and made Chairman Rockwell your own puppet-- a role he was all too eager to play.

The colony never realized you were the true power behind the new administration. By acting vicariously through agents and third parties, you controlled Halcyon from the shadows.

As a result, Halcyon survived the turbulent years that were to follow.

Phineas's ending + make Rockwell a leader + be a grey Cardinal

Long after Welles passed away, you carried on his work with more energy, determination, and brilliance than he could ever muster.

The years that followed were hard, but Halycon survived by the efforts of the Hope’s most promising colonists – the greatest of which was you.

Phineas's ending + help Phineas

You bought an end to the chaos on Tartarus, and left Dr. Welles to his own devices. The affairs of the colony never distracted you from living out your own dreams to captain a ship, to sail the aether, and to earn a reputation as the greatest spacer Halycon ever had.

Phineas's ending + become a space captain

You bought an end to the chaos on Tartarus and proved yourself the most capable leader left in the colony.

You administered the colony in your own image. With the old power of the Board destroyed, a new government of Halycon rose with you at its center. With your steady hand, you guided Halcyon through the turbulent years that were to follow and helped ensure the survival of the colony until the end of your days.

Phineas's ending + become a leader + Kill Rockwell

You brought an end to the chaos on Tartarus, and left Dr. Welles to save Halcyon on his own. You have more pressing matters to attend to.

As you tasted your first scoop of Rizzo's Partially-Emulsified Semi-Frozen Milklike Dessert, you realised something. All your troubles, all your adventures, all your struggles, and choices, they had all led to this single moment. And it was all worth it.

Phineas's ending + turn down leadership for ice cream [dumb option]

Akande offered you any reward you could imagine. Power. Wealth. Influence. However, you were more interested in the simple pleasures in life - like the smooth, artificially enhanced flavor of a Rizzo's Purpleberry Munch. Rizzo's Purpleberry Munch - the only snack in Halcyon officially endorsed by the Captain of the Unreliable.

There is a special ending for Helen when you passed the skill check when talking to her during Captain, Go Home (150 Inspiration/Determination):

Ruth Bellamy never forgot the words you said to her. She coped with Belinda's death by commiting to live in a way that would make her sister proud. When the remnants of the colony banded together, Ruth Bellamy was there to help. She devoted her remaining years and resources to saving the colony.

Years later, when the worst of the crisis had passed, aetherwaves returned to Halcyon's culture. An aging Ruth Bellamy tried her hand at directing. Her first aetherwave dram was dedicated to the memory of Belinda Bellamy, and to her old friend, Captain of the Unreliable.

There is an ending for Lylia / Sublight when you both
        - Skip the Hope to Terra 2
        AND
        - Complete the Chimerist's Last Experiment in Lylia's favor

where she was known as the Saviour of Humanity (by completing the Chimerist's Last Experiment quest and having a good standing with Sublight) and their business model became transparent, muddying the lines between legal and criminal. The company would thrive for many years.

But I can't remember the exact lines to this.

There is also an ending where you skip groundbreaker (I completed the game without landing on groundbraker, yes that is possible...).

I killed Lilya Hagen and I got another text variation about how the SubLight family devolved into criminals and eventually was forgotten all together.

            • Anonymous

Missing the variances in the ending when you choose to only steal 23 some odd % of the chemical so you don't kill the people being experimented on. Also the ending where there's no communication from other colonies so the people of Halcyon assume they are alone.

------------- Definitely some missing endings here: MSI: You left the factions to fight amongst themselves, when the sulfur clouds settled some stragglers emerged to fight over what little was left. Some joined Sub Light, others went to Terra 2, in the end only the Rapts thrived on Monarch (Req: Leave Faction quests incomplete + Board Ending) Minister Clarke: Becomes a useless hermit who stays in his estate by choice (Req: Do not complete his quest) --------- No doubt there's others I was disappointed to find out that the Board questline is 90% identical to the Phineas questline. Definitely not a FNV-level game. Oh well, at least I enjoyed my first playthrough.

Mission option for Minister Clarke, not certain of the requirements. I spoke with him, but told him I'd "think about" sending the message to Earth. My thought was, Earth is where the board came from, and the board was just gonna let everyone on the Hope die. I didn't want any Earth military coming and supporting the board, so I opted to not send the message, ultimately. In my ending, he was mentioned: He was released from house arrest, but by choice never left his estate. He became a hermit and faded from public view. Not sure if my refusal to send the message, or something in my dialogue with him caused this ending.

The sheer number of Obsidian fanboys praising this game online as "the next New Vegas" is just astounding. LOOK at this web page. This "roleplaying game" that was touted in its own ads as letting you play whatever sort of character you want, only has two real endings, and a joke ending. That's it. Obsidian, the company whose fans love to fellate them for such "incredible writing", has created a roleplaying game where your only two choices are rebel hero, and corporate stooge. Christ, even Fallout 4 had more roleplaying/story options than this.

A little letdown on the endings. The game was fine. But it felt unfinished. It also suffered from a very apparent lack of a challenge on hard difficulty. I never used consumables aside from medical, and I had hundreds of medical supplies and ~2k consumables by the end of the game. I feel like a more meaningful crafting and Itemization system was intended. I feel like it was meant to be as advanced, or more advanced than Fallout Series games. But they never got there, and wrapped it up quickly. Reminds me of playing KOTOR II -- It is a nice little package, that obviously has significant cuts to the intended story and systems to make deadlines. Still good, but with rough edges where they plastered over holes in content.

It feels like the Edgewater ending is incomplete or otherwise missing information. There's 4 options for dealing with the Emerald Vale, direct power to Edgewater, fail to convince the people of the botanical labs to come back to Edgewater (is this even possible or do you have to convince them to go back?), direct power to Edgewater, convince everyone barring Adelaide ro come back, direct power to the botanical labs and finally direct power to Edgewater and get Adelaide to become the leader. I don't see options for at least two of those, but primarily, the one ending I want to see is what happens if all the people of the labs comes back but Adelaide stays behind. Further, is there any way to actually save Edgewater in a permanent way? Passed the decision of who to direct power to? Something to prevent the pollution? More answers are needed.

During the "good ending" play through, the main character's ending can change slightly based on a choice you make when talking to Dr. Phineas Welles.
