Chimaera is a Unique Body Armor in The Outer Worlds. Armor can be worn by the player to reduce incoming damage dealt by Enemies. Armor also changes the physical appearance of the player when worn.
An exquisite outfit crafted by Celeste Jolicoeur. This suit provides as much protection as standard heavy armor.

Chimaera Notes
- Despite being light armor the protection Chimaera offers on a level-per-level basis is close to heavy armor. Tinkering highly recommended

All "unique" armor and weapons do not allow swapping mods. This is why you see people who continue to use the SubLight Sniper Rifle instead of Pink Slip, and why the Dead-Eye 2 is widely considered better than either one. If Pink Slip could mount a suppressor it would be the best sniper rifle in the game but it can't. The same is true of ALL unique items, none can change or add mods, they can only be tinkered.
That said, at least this one does offer SOMETHING. With over 70 protection against every kind of damage after tinkering, the Chimaera basically makes you immune to all automatic weaponry in the entire game, so you only have to be concerned with enemies with sniper rifles or explosive weapons. Take those out first and you can stroll full a field of 20 marauders with automatic guns and take no damage whatsoever.
Still, better to tinker some light modable armor IMHO. It'll cost you much more, but the mods are worth the expense.

I just need to get this off my chest. Stats are good, but aesthetically this outfit straight up sucks. Especially when you consider how you acquired it. Imagine, instead of a reused fancy, red, three piece suit(!), all the monster parts you gathered were turned into a trench coat; Akin to the NCR riot gear from new Vegas! That would’ve made for an awesome callback and a worthwhile reward. Can someone mod that in, please? Obsidian, are you listening?
