By His Bootstraps is one of the Side Quests in The Outer Worlds. Side Quests are optional quests that players can choose to complete in order to obtain special rewards, XP, or reputation.
A labcoat by the name of Jameson is missing. There's raptidons and marauders about, so his boss, Anton Crane, is (somewhat belatedly) worried for him.
By His Bootstraps Objectives
- Rescue Jameson
Anton sent Jameson to Auntie Cleo's old Auntie-Biotics Lab, just down the road south of Roseway. Make sure he isn't raptidon chow. - Talk to Anton (Successfully rescue Jameson)
Jameson is pissed off but otherwise fine. Head back to Roseway to give Anton the good news. - Talk to Anton (Failed to rescue Jameson)
You retrieved Jameson's ID cartridge from his corpse. Head back to Roseway to give Anton the bad news.
By His Bootstraps Walkthrough
WARNING: You must visit Auntie-Biotics Lab and rescue Jameson before you collect the research for The Doom That Came to Roseway quest. Failure to rescue him first will result in his death and potentially failing the quest.
Travel to Auntie-Biotics Lab and in the first room, hack the computer console to lift the lockdown and unlock the doors. Travel down the hallway and into the door on the left. Inside are a few automatons to kill. Climb up the ladder on the left wall if you entered from the hallway, which is the same wall that has the large hole that leads to the bathrooms. Once you get upstairs, proceed to clear out the raptidons until you get to the locked door. Inside, you'll find Jameson scared, but pissed off at you for breaking into the building. Ultimately, he'll be glad he is no longer trapped in there with the raptidons.
You can now return to Anton in Roseway to collect your rewards.

I had an odd glitch with anton, Made him feel guilty as hell with certain speech choices after getting or fixing his request, he then shoots himself after we got thru they door, went back in and he's dead, But short time later back on ground breaker, and anton showed up in the bar >_< luls " clones ", heheheh
